Support for autistic and neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults.

Sometimes it helps to have someone who understands how your child experiences the world. Or someone who can help you make sense of your own needs as you get older.

At Haven, I work with young people and parents on the parts of everyday life that feel difficult. For young children, that may mean reducing challenging behavior by building communication, regulation, and routine skills. For teens and young adults, it often means working toward independent life skills — managing school, work, daily tasks, and relationships with more confidence.

    Based in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jennifer Phelps, founder of The Haven Family Center

    Hi, I’m Jennifer.

I’m a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with more than 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

My background includes behavioral health, education, and parent support. Across those fields, I’ve learned how important it is to understand the person beyond the concern that brought them in.

I want to know what matters to you, what is already working, and where things are getting hard. That is where we begin.

    What brings you here?

You do not need to know exactly which service to ask for. You may simply recognize something here.

    • Your child comes home from school overwhelmed, and evenings are difficult.
    • Friendships are confusing or take more energy than others realize.
    • Your teen needs help with planning, getting started, or following through.
    • Changes in routines or expectations are hard to manage.
    • You are a young adult figuring out college, work, relationships, or daily responsibilities.
    • You want to understand your child better and feel more confident about how to help.

We can talk through what is happening and whether Haven would be a good fit.

Getting to know the person comes first.

A diagnosis can tell us something, but it does not tell us everything.

I take time to understand each person’s communication, sensory needs, interests, relationships, and experiences. Together, we identify useful goals and consider what support or changes in the environment could make daily life easier.

There is room to build skills while respecting differences. Being more comfortable, having more choice, and being able to ask for what you need all matter.

Everything is individualized to the person in front of us. For children, that often means play- and movement-based work that meets them where they are and builds from their strengths.

Questions families ask before their first call.

What ages do you work with?

We work with neurodivergent children, teens, and emerging adults, with a special focus on ages 10 to 30. We also support parents and families through consultation and coaching.

    What services do you offer?

We offer individualized behavior analysis, parent and family consultation, executive functioning and life-skills support, and neurodiversity-affirming ABA when it is a good fit. Everything is tailored to the person, not the diagnosis.

What happens during the first session?

The first session is a conversation, not a test. We talk about what brought you in, what is working, and what feels hardest right now. For children, the first meeting is usually with parents or caregivers. For teens and young adults, we invite their perspective as well. You will leave with a clearer sense of whether we are a good fit and what next steps could look like.

What is the intake process like?

After you reach out, we schedule a free consultation to discuss your situation and answer questions. If we decide to move forward, we complete an intake that covers history, strengths, goals, and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all packet — the process is adjusted to fit your family.

    How do I schedule?

You can schedule a free consultation through the contact form on this site or by calling (727) 316-5751. We will respond within one to two business days.

    How much do sessions cost?

$165 per 60-minute session. Every family also receives a written Good Faith Estimate before care begins, so there are no surprises.

    Do you accept insurance?

We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We provide a superbill on request so you can submit to your plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.

What is the Healthy Family Blueprint™?

It is a stand-alone consultation that maps what your child and family actually need before you commit to any ongoing service. We look at behavior, emotional health, executive functioning, family dynamics, and the school day together, then give you a practical roadmap for what comes next.

    What makes your ABA different?

Our ABA is child-led, play-based, and never compliance-driven. It is informed by Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Intervention, the model the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends for young children. We follow your child's lead, teach inside real play and daily routines instead of tabletop drills, and build every goal around connection first. Your child is never asked to mask who they are to make progress.
